Step-by-Step Guide: Connecting Reolink RLC 510WA Camera to TimelapseRobot [Reolink RLC 510WA timelapse setup]

Follow this easy guide for the perfect Reolink RLC 510WA timelapse setup.

1. Set Up Your Reolink Camera

  1. Download the Reolink App: Install the free Reolink app from the Play Store.

  2. Power Up the Camera: Plug the camera into a power socket.

  3. Connect to Your Network: Use a LAN cable to connect the camera to your modem.

  4. Add Camera to Reolink App:

    • Open the Reolink app and click the plus icon in the top right corner.

    • Scan the QR code on your camera.

  5. Set Camera Login Credentials:

    • Create a username and password for the camera (these are only for accessing the local camera hardware), then confirm the password.

  6. Name Your Camera:

    • Set a name for your device. Use letters and numbers only (no spaces).


 

2. Adjust Camera Settings for Timelapse Use

Important display settings in the Reolink app

Now that the camera is connected to your Reolink App we can choose the perfect settings for your timelapse use. Click on the 'Settings' icon in the upper right corner of your camera.

  1. Optional: Add a Wi-Fi network

    • If you want to continue without the modem, you need to connect your camera to a Wi-Fi network

  2. Display Settings:

    • Set "Day and Night" to Color to prevent switching to black and white at night.

    • Adjust the Brightness as needed.

    • Set Camera Name and Date to Hide.

    • Deactivate the Watermark.

  3. Light Settings:

    • Set "Infrared Lights" to Stay Off.

  4. Detection Alarm Settings:

    • Go to Non-Detection Zone.

    • Select Paint All and click Save.

  5. Disable Camera Recording and Alerts:

    • Set Camera Recording to Off.

    • Set Email Alerts to Off.



 

3. Configure TimelapseRobot Integration

  1. Log into TimelapseRobot: Go to my.timelapserobot.com.

  2. Create a New Project or navigate to an existing one and click Add Camera.

  3. Select FTP Camera and set a camera name (this can match the one in Reolink, but it’s optional).

  4. Choose Your Subscription Plan.

  5. Get FTP Credentials:

    • In the next window, you will receive login credentials for the FTP server where your camera will upload photos.

  6. Enter FTP Settings in Reolink App:

    • Go to FTP → FTP Settings and copy the Server Address, Username, and Password provided by TimelapseRobot.

    • Adjust the following settings:

      • Set Generate subfolder by to Off.

      • Set Upload to Image.

      • Click Save.

4. Set Upload Schedule

  1. Alarm Tab:

    • Deactivate all days.

  2. Timer Tab:

    • Set the weekdays, start time, and end time for each day you want to cover (e.g., Mon-Fri, 6am-6pm). Note that the calendar view starts with Sunday.

    • Ensure that your current day and time is covered initially to allow the camera to upload photos immediately. You can deactivate this later.

5. Wait for Photos to Upload

  • Your camera should start uploading photos to your TimelapseRobot account. Go back to your browser and wait for the first image to arrive (this can take 1-2 minutes).

  • Click Save Settings.

  • Your camera is now connected and starts uploading photos according to your set schedule.



6. Optional: Set Your Timelapse Interval

  • By default, the camera uploads 1 image per minute. To change this do the following:

  • Open the Reolink app and go to FTP Settings.

  • Set the desired Interval for the timelapse.

  • Click Save to confirm your settings.
