Transfer existing construction timelapse photos to the TimelapseRobot Cloud

If your construction timelapse project is already running, you can upload your existing photos to the TimelapseRobot Cloud and then continue with automatic uploads for all future images.

Step 1: Download your existing photos

Download all photos from your current system to a local folder on your computer.

Before uploading them to TimelapseRobot, make sure that:

  • each filename contains the timestamp of when the photo was taken

  • filenames do not contain spaces

all filenames follow the same naming pattern your camera will use for future uploads

This is important so TimelapseRobot can correctly process both old and newly incoming images as one continuous timelapse sequence.

Step 2: Set up an FTP camera in TimelapseRobot

Log in to your account at my.timelapserobot.com.

Inside TimelapseRobot:

  1. Create a new project or open an existing one

  2. Click Add Camera

  3. Select FTP Camera

  4. Enter a camera name

  5. Choose your subscription plan

In the next step, you will receive the FTP server credentials for your project.

Open your FTP client, such as FileZilla, enter the provided credentials, and connect to the TimelapseRobot FTP server.

Step 3: Upload one test image

Before uploading the full archive, upload a single photo first.

TimelapseRobot uses this image to automatically detect the filename pattern. The exact image does not matter. Once the setup is complete, this test image will be deleted.

After uploading the test photo:

  1. Wait until TimelapseRobot detects the naming pattern

  2. Select the correct camera timezone

  3. Click Save settings

Step 4: Upload your full photo archive

Now upload all existing photos to the TimelapseRobot FTP server using your FTP client.

Please note that this can take some time, depending on the number and size of your images.

Step 5: Connect your camera for future uploads

To continue the timelapse seamlessly, enter the same FTP credentials into your camera settings.

From that point on, all newly captured photos will be uploaded automatically to the TimelapseRobot Cloud.
